Badger Face Texel Sheep Society Show & Sale, Borderway Mart, Carlisle — Friday 28th and Saturday 29th August 2026
A record entry of 101 registered MV-accredited rams and females came forward for the Badger Face Texel Sheep Society’s annual show and sale at Borderway Mart, with judge Andrew Owens, assisted by shadow judge Caitlyn Howells, sorting a strong show on the Friday evening ahead of Saturday’s sale. Demand was good throughout, with females in particular showing a marked lift on the year.
Gold for Silvermere as High Voltage tops the trade
Taking both the overall championship and the 4,500gns top price of the day was Lot 1630, Silvermere High Voltage, from Michelle Hanson’s Silvermere flock at Upper Drakemyers Farm, Forgie, near Keith, Banffshire.
A February 2026-born ET ram lamb, High Voltage is by the Irish import sire Powerful, himself a son of the Dutch import Woodies Full Monty, and out of Silvermere Deadly Nightshade, a daughter of Powerful (POW/19/00392) bred from Silvermere Baby Cham ET. Tapped out as champion by Andrew Owens, he went on to sell to Jennifer Love of the Sammax flock, Oban.
Three lots shared the next-best call of 2,500gns.
Lot 1649, Nikay Haud Yer Wheesht, came from Nick and Kayley Gill’s Nikay flock at Moory Lea Farm, Langleydale, Barnard Castle, County Durham. A February 2026 single and part of this year’s Nikay show team, he is by the flock’s own Nikay Gaun Yersel ET — a son of Ardstewart Fire Ball ET, offered in the same sale as a shearling — and out of Duhonw Faye, a Duhonw Ding Dong ET daughter. He heads to Wales with the Davies family’s Nant flock, Llanrwst, Conwy.
Also at 2,500gns, and awarded reserve overall champion as well as female champion, was Lot 1688, Knockmult Hope, from Russell Millen and Seamus Killen’s Knockmult flock, 222 Windyhill Road, Coleraine, Co Londonderry. A January 2026-born, naturally reared twin, she is by the 6,500gns Knockmult Got It All ET and out of the imported Sunnybank Cexy, and had already stood third in a strong class at Balmoral. She sold to Messrs Robertson, Bristol, Avon.
Completing the trio was Lot 1697, Silvermere Hotshot, a second Michelle Hanson consignment and second-prize ewe lamb. An AI-bred single born in February 2026, she is another daughter of Powerful (Irish), out of Silvermere Firefly, herself by Pistyll Dazzler ET and bred from Silvermere Billion Dollar Babe ET. She sold to Messrs Simpson, Hope Valley, Derbyshire.
Reserve female at 2,200gns
Next in the leading prices at 2,200gns was Lot 1663, Knockmult Giselle, again from Russell Millen and Seamus Killen and standing reserve female champion. A February 2025 twin by Riverside Delboy, she is out of Diamond ET and is a maternal sister to the 5,100gns Knockmult Freddie. She sold to Messrs Owen, Newtown, Powys.
Rams in demand at 2,000gns
Jack Whiteford’s Jacks flock, Tercrosset Farm, Brampton, Cumbria, sold the third-prize shearling ram Jacks Greatest Showman, a March 2025 triplet by Blackjack Horrid Henry out of Jacks Exotic, to Messrs Abrahm, Dereham, Norfolk.
The Knockmult partnership added two more at the same money. Knockmult Has It All, male champion at the National Show and an ET twin by Diamond Jumbo out of Knockmult Glitter ET, joined Stuart and Wendy Hunter’s Hunters flock at West Cairnhill, Insch, Aberdeenshire. His flock-mate Knockmult High Flyer, overall male champion at Balmoral and a full sibling in blood to the reserve overall champion — by Knockmult Got It All ET out of Sunnybank Cexy — sold to Ella and Isaac Boyes’ Stapleton flock, Annan.
At 1,800gns, Michelle Hanson’s Silvermere Highlander, another ET lamb by Powerful (Irish), this time out of Silvermere Creme De La Creme, went north-west to Hannah Pedley’s High Ploughlands flock, Kirkby Stephen.
Shearling rams saw Evelyn Gladiator, an Irt Vale Fire Spark son from Caitlyn and Eva Howells, West Glamorgan, sell at 1,500gns, while the reserve male champion and Echt Show winner High Ploughlands Godfather ET, a Knockmult Earl ET son from Stuart and Wendy Hunter, made 1,300gns. Both were bought by the Garth flock, Newtown, Powys.
