An eye-catching ewe lamb with a proven show record proved to be the star attraction of the Badger Face Texel Sheep Society’s offering at Harrison and Hetherington’s May Fair Pedigree Sheep Sale on Friday, 26 May, when Russell Millen’s Knockmult Eternal ET sold for the top price of 7500gns.

She has some impressive price tags in her pedigree including a 8000gns Duhonw ram and the 4600gns Sunnybank Colorful, which is by the imported 46577 ram and a half sister to the 10,000gns Sunnybank Cover Girl. Eternal herself won her class at Balmoral earlier in the month where she went on to stand both reserve breed champion and reserve in the interbreed pairs. It was, in fact, the judge at Balmoral, Henry Jewitt, who forked out the 7500gns to take her back to his Sunnybank flock near Barnard Castle.
Her full brother named Knockmult Edgar ET from the flock near Coleraine, County Londonderry, sold for the second highest price of 1800gns to T Gallagher, Portsalow, County Donegal.
Two more bred from the Sunnybank Colourful ewe were also in the money at 1700gns and 1600gns. Sired by in imported Drumhirk ram and the other part of the interbreed duo at Balmoral, Knockmult Earl ET sold to H Pedley, Little Musgrave, Kirkby Stephen, for 1700gns, while a full sister to the trade leaders, knockmult Evergreen ET sold to T Jackson, Killybawn, Saintfield, County Down, for 1600gns.
Stuart Wood from near Skene, Westhill, saw his two dearert ewe hoggs sell to Elliot Booth, New Mill, Huddersfield, for 1600gns and 1500gns, both of which were by the imported Woodies Full Monty. At 1600gns was Woodies Ding Dong which is out of an imported ewe, and at 1500gns was Woodies Delightful Girl which is out of a different import.
Averages: One pedigree ewe with lamb, £1260; two embryo lambs with recipients, £1575; three weaned embryo lambs, £3780; six ewe hoggs, £774 (Harrison and Hetherington).
